Beginners........... Intermediate.............Advanced

 AGES 18 MONTHS AND UP

Swimming lessons are given seasonally for ages 18 months old and up in our large heated 50' outdoor pool. Glenn Burdge is a USA Swimming certified swim coach who uses a gentle but very effective technique to teach kids and adults to swim. Kids learn to love the water - not fear it. Results are guaranteed. All new students start by taking the 6 lesson course. Children 6 years and under receive daily gifts after completing each lesson. Most children are drown proofed in just a few lessons and swimming within five. Many kids will want to move on to competitive swimming after their initial training at Aquatic Thrills. Coach Glenn has all current safety certifications including, CPR, First Aid, Swim Safety Training, Athlete Protection Training, and Background Screening. References and varification of credentials provided on request. Call for reservations and any questions. SEE RATES BELOW.

NEWBORNS - 18 MONTHS

Aquatic Thrills Swim School is recommending that parents of children between the ages of Newborn - 18 months visit our page on "NEWBORNS". There you will find information on teaching your child to lay back and do what is commonly known as a "Survival Float". In the past, Aquatic Thrills Swim School performed these lessons but because the age of 0-18 months is such a delicate age and the separation anxiety is so high for both child and parents we have chosen to instruct the parents via our website to prepare their child for instructions after the age of 18 months. In many cases, parents will be unable to achieve complete success in teaching this skill but it will help the child with an introduction to "survival floating" as well as let the parents see first hand the resistance their child can exhibit to learning "survival floating". Regardless of the outcome of the parental instruction, Aquatic Thrills will take over at 18 months or older and teach your child to swim. (Guaranteed)

Coach Glenn's Training Philosophy

I am in complete agreement with the swim training industry that parents should seek survival and swim training for their children 6 months and older. However, I strongly suggest that you avoid any program that promotes a 5 day training week for children under the age of 6 yrs old. After being in the aquatic training business for over 30 years and coaching kids in competitive swimming for over 18 years, I have found it to be a common occurrence for children below the age of 6 yrs to become extremely stressed when forced to train on back to back days. This type of training can result in the child becoming fearful or at the least resistant to training in the future. It is my experience that one to two days per week is a much safer and more acceptable rate of instruction for below school aged children. Many instructors will try to sell you on their 5 day program. You are expected to sign a contract which locks you into a certain time for 5 consecutive days. The cost is high because the business owner is getting half and the instructors are getting half. Your child is just a number that is pushed through the program screaming and crying for five days in a row. At the end of the five days most of these kids still don't know how to swim and don't want to go anywhere near the pool. Buyer beware.

Here at Aquatic Thrills, your child is treated as an individual. Because I am the only instructor, I get to know each child and to understand their individual strengths and limitations. Because they swim only once or twice a week, the child learns to love the sport and looks forward to returning for the next lesson. They have time to practice at home or at a community pool and show off what they are learning, to parents, family, and friends. The learning process is more fun and exciting for both the child and parents. In the beginning, parents observe the training from behind one way glass so the student is able to focus on the instruction. Later, the parents can observe from poolside. The parents are then instructed on how to encourage and aid in the learning process. The results are much happier children and parents alike. Our lessons are guaranteed. If I am unsuccessful at teaching your child to swim or your infant to exhibit survival skills, then you will not be charged. If you have any questions about our training program or would like to schedule some time, please give me a call.

Sincerely, Coach Glenn

REGISTRATION DEPOSIT

Aquatic Thrills Swim School requires all NEW STUDENTS/ FAMILIES to register by making a deposit of $240. which will go toward payment of the first six lessons. After the initial course is completed, additional lessons may be made on a day to day basis. Parents should understand that survival floating and swimming are skills that must be learned by the infant or child in an environment which is independent from the parents. This separation can cause anxiety which may lead to crying and in some cases, screaming as a means of demanding the presence of the parents. Please be sure that you are prepared for the possibility of this type of reaction from your child. ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON REFUNDABLE. ALL BEGINNER COURSES MUST BE COMPLETED IN 90 DAYS TO AVOID FORFEITURE OF REMAINING CLASSES.

PAYMENT OF REGISTRATION

Payment of the registration fee should be sent into the school in advance when paid by check. Please include your drivers license number on the check. Please make checks payable to "Glenn Burdge" and send them to "Aquatic Thrills Swim School - 2870 S.E. Golden Gate Ave, Stuart, Fl. 34997. Cash payment can be brought to the school on the day the lessons are to begin. Payment in full must be received prior to the start of lessons .

TRAINING VS RE TRAINING

Every year it is the same thing. I get parents who bring their kids to me who have had lessons with?. "THE OTHER GUY". The kids have been traumatized by a "Rambo" style teaching technique. They are terrified of the water and still can't swim after hundreds of dollars in lessons. The first thing I must do when these kids are brought to me is to calm them down and start un doing the damage that was done. Then I start showing them just how easy and fun swimming is. Parents need to realize that it is extremely important to do it right the first time. Why pay hundreds for your child to get traumatized with no guarantee, when they can learn quickly and easily the first time?.. Guaranteed.

GUARANTEE

If your child is unable to perform a survival float after completing the 6 lesson course, then additional lessons will be given free of charge until the skill is learned. Your child must complete all 6 half hour lessons to qualify for the guarantee. Aquatic Thrills reserves the right to video any lesson or lessons in order to document the progress of the student.

THE POOL

Are you aware of how toxic chlorine is? Studies have shown that it is extremely harmful to the skin and hair and has even been shown in some cases to cause cancer and asthma. All public pools in this area are chlorinated to a very high level in order to kill the bacteria from the large numbers of people that use them. Here at Aquatic Thrills Swim School, we have a saltwater pool that generates an organic chlorine at the filter where it kills the bacteria on contact. By the time the water returns to the pool, most of the chlorine has evaporated. The result is clean smelling skin and hair when you get out of the pool. You don't go away smelling like a jug of chemicals.

Our pool has a shallow end for working with beginners and is equipped with starting blocks, backstroke flags, and lane lines for the training of competitive swimmers.

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

Thanks to athletes like Michael Phelps, Missy Franklin and many more, swimming is becoming recognized as a great spectators sport. More and more people are paying to attend swim meets or watching them on television. Because of the increase in swim meet attendance and revenue, colleges are able to offer more athletic scholarships than ever before. Today, even the small state colleges are able to offer complete or partial scholarships for students willing to mix athletics with their studies. It's hard work but for kids who have a love for the sport, and who would otherwise be unable to afford college, this could be the answer. For the best chance at a scholarship, starting early is key. Parents should be aware of their childs strengths and interests. Whether it be scholastics or athletics, encouragement and support is vital to the childs success. Parents who are willing to sacrifice their time, energy, and resources to see that their child is given every opportunity to succeed, will more times than not, be rewarded by seeing their son or daughter achieve goals that otherwise would have been unattainable.

Here at Aquatic Thrills Swim School, Coach Glenn is dedicated to helping every child to become the best they can. All kids have different likes and dislikes. Not all will enjoy and love the sport of swimming as much as others. For those that love swimming, regardless of their skill level, a swimming scholarship is not a far fetched dream. The hardest part of swimming is being willing to practice. A student who is willing to practice and is given instruction in technique, has a huge advantage over those who don't receive training. COMPETITIVE SWIMMERS

If you or your child is a competitive swimmer and looking to drop time and take it to the next level, then Coach Glenn can help. All competitive swimmers are analyzed both above and below the water using underwater video equipment to discover the area of each stroke that needs attention. Coach Glenn then reviews the video with the swimmer and the correction of the problem is addressed. Sometimes it is just a simple adjustment. Other times it takes drills and a lot of work to break a bad habit. The swimmer will receive a written analysis and instructions to follow in their team practices. Periodic visits are advised to continue the corrections and to make sure the swimmer is not lapsing back into the old habits. Many swimmers have experienced dramatic improvements after just small changes in their technique. Continuing to swim with bad technique will only solidify a bad habit. Get the help and drop the time.
